CrossFit. If someone you know happens to do CrossFit, chances are they won’t shut up about it. It seems to get under their skin. They rave about it. They hang out with other people who do it. They talk about things like muscle up technique, 1RM’s, and the Open, which to most people sounds like Greek. They LOVE it. But why? What make CrossFit so different from any other trip to any other gym? I’ll give you the lowdown on why I've chosen CrossFit and many others do too. CrossFit will challenge you and create confidence. I never ever thought I would be able to do pull ups. Pull-ups in my mind were reserved for gymnasts and fitness phenomes. I was a pear shaped girl living in a world of endurance sport. Upper body = Nil. Even at my leanest, the thought of pulling myself up and over a bar was laughable. I recall saying at one point “Girls with booties just weren’t designed to do pull ups”. I love it when I eat my own words: and I constantly do training CrossFit. NOW I can do pull-ups (and many other amazing things I’d once written off) and I teach other women and men that they can too. I have completely changed my approach to physical challenges. What was once “I can’t do that” has become “ I can’t do that... ‘yet’”. Then I get busy trying, with great guidance and encouragement all the way. One can’t help but take that “will do” attitude into every other part of your life. That’s true confidence, knowing you can and will accomplish things that may seem unattainable at first glance. CrossFit is a communityI don’t know about you, but I never high-fived anyone at my last gym! CrossFitters are geeks. We share in the delight of a workout well done. We high five, we congratulate, we hang out and talk nutrition. We go into every workout together, no matter size or ability, and we come out stronger. Each and every person in a good CrossFit gym knows your name, your goals, and wants you to succeed. CrossFit takes ‘workout buddies’ to a whole new level. This isn’t just a person you’re ambling next to on the treadmill. This is a group of people you’re literally “throwing down” with and pushing your limits with. Your CrossFit Community is supporting and witnessing your transformation! That means something in a disposable turnstile industry. Your CrossFit Box has your back! CrossFit focuses on performance over aesthetics.We don’t have scales or mirrors in our gym: on purpose. We know that if we create a stellar training program, encourage you to show up frequently, support healthy nutrition changes, create a welcoming environment where you want to be, and keep challenging you to learn, grow and push your own limits… the physical changes you desire will come. All body-types welcome! When you lead with numbers on a scale and the look of this muscle or that, it creates unhealthy mentality and misguided, unbalanced practices. There’s a reason CrossFitters look great. We use functional, full body exercises that benefit your real life! WORK HARD, have FUN and the body will come! So why do CrossFitters love it so much?
